1724年、ドイツ東部の歴史ある都市ライプツィヒ。
39歳のヨハン・ゼバスティアン・バッハは、聖トーマス教会のカントル（教会音楽の指導者・音楽監督）として、礼拝のための音楽を作曲していました。
その年の9月3日、バッハは教会カンタータ《Allein zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ》BWV 33の自筆総譜を仕上げました。

この作品は、三位一体節後第13日曜日の礼拝のために作曲されたカンタータです。16世紀から歌い継がれてきたコラール「Allein zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ（ただあなたにのみ、主イエス・キリストよ）」をもとに、独唱、合唱、そして器楽によって豊かな音楽へと形づくられています。
当時のライプツィヒでは、教会の礼拝と音楽が深く結びついていました。バッハは日々の務めの中で新しい作品を作曲し、その楽譜を自らの手で記していました。

Leipzig, a historic city in eastern Germany, in 1724.
At the age of 39, Johann Sebastian Bach was serving as Thomaskantor (church music director) at St. Thomas Church, where he composed music for worship services.

On September 3, 1724, Bach completed the autograph manuscript score of the church cantata Allein zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ, BWV 33.

This cantata was composed for the Thirteenth Sunday after Trinity. Based on the Lutheran chorale Allein zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ (“In You Alone, Lord Jesus Christ”), which had been sung since the 16th century, the work brings together solo voices, choir, and instrumental writing in a carefully crafted musical expression.

In Leipzig at that time, worship and music were deeply connected. As part of his daily duties, Bach continued to compose new works and personally wrote down their musical scores.

This fine art giclée print is created from a high-resolution digital scan of the autograph manuscript score written by Bach himself in 1724. The notes and handwriting preserved on the pages offer a glimpse into the moment when the composer shaped his music nearly 300 years ago.
